JUST IN: Crook County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Motor vehicle Crash on SE Davis Loop

On 2-20-20 at approximately 1805 hours, The Crook County Sheriff’s Office along with Crook County Fire and Rescue were dispatched to a two vehicle motor vehicle crash on SE Davis Loop near SE Remington Road.

It was reported a pickup truck had possibly t-boned a second pickup truck. It was also reported one subject was trapped upside down in his pickup truck.

Upon arrival of the Deputies it was discovered a white 2007 ford pickup operated by 49 year old Joseph Weitman of Prineville Oregon had been south bound on SE Davis Loop near SE Remington Road. Weitman was following a gray 1990 ford pickup operated by 26 year old Dustin Halcom of Prineville, Oregon.

Weitman was following Halcom too closely and could not react in time when Halcom braked. Weitman’s vehicle struck Halcom’s vehicle causing Halcom’s vehicle to leave the roadway and flip onto its roof. Weitman’s vehicle ended up partially on top of Halcom’s vehicle trapping Halcom inside.

Crook County Fire and Rescue arrived on scene and had to extricate Halcom from his vehicle. Halcom was transported to St. Charles Hospital in Prineville by ambulance to be evaluated due to the severity of the crash. Joseph Weitman was cited for following too close which resulted in causing the accident.
