CHARGES FILED AGAINST PERSON WHO SHOVED TRUMP SUPPORTER

On July 17, 2020, 59-year-old Redmond resident Dobbs Pressley’s car was adorned with numerous stickers and placards expressing his support of United States President Donald Trump.   While gassing up his car at the Redmond Fred Meyer gas station, two young females started yelling at him about their disagreements with his political beliefs.  A Fred Meyer employee, 51-year-old Redmond resident Daniel Kaough, then intervened, shoved Pressley, and challenged him to a fight.  No further physical contact occurred and Redmond Police Officers responded to the scene and deescalated the situation.

Redmond Police Officers issued a citation to Kaough, charging him with harassment and unlawful entry into a motor vehicle.  District Attorney John Hummel reviewed the incident and today charged Kaough with one count of harassment.

Kaough is presumed innocent of this charge, and in fact is innocent, unless and until the State proves his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

Kaough’s first court appearance is for an arraignment on August 28, 2020 at 1:15.

Statement from District Attorney Hummel:

“Everyone needs to exhale. Tensions are spun up tighter than a drum right now and it’s starting to play out on our streets.  Preach, protest, advocate, cajole, criticize: I’ll fight for your right to do so.  Commit a crime during your advocacy and I won’t hesitate to charge you with a crime.”
