In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, this year, the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI) transformed its annual Tin Pan South Songwriters Festival presented by Regions Bank into a stunning five-day virtual event. With the assistance of several incredible industry partners, sponsors, and songwriters, the festival, which took place October 20-24, 2020, featured more than 20 streamed performances and included nearly 75 songwriters! Going virtual provided the unique opportunity for viewers to tune in from all over the world and even watch a round the next day they may have missed during the live premiere resulting in nearly 25,000 streams of Tin Pan South content throughout the week!
“Supporting the Tin Pan South Songwriters Festival is a proud tradition of Regions Bank,” said Lee Blank, market executive for Regions Bank in Nashville. “There have been so many events we’ve all missed in 2020. Tin Pan South’s innovative approach to hosting the event virtually reminds us that celebrating great music is never canceled. Music always finds a way to bring us joy, to bring us together – even when we can’t be together. We congratulate the Tin Pan South team and thank the songwriters and artists for bringing music to life for so many.”
Embracing the opportunity to connect far and wide, each night of the festival focused on a different geographical region to showcase that songwriters hail from all around the world! Multiple rounds premiered simultaneously each evening to mimic the authentic feel of the in-person festival, during which there are typically up to 10 rounds happening simultaneously in clubs around Nashville.

Tin Pan South Songwriters Festival is the largest fundraising event each year for NSAI, and although this year’s festival was free to access, donations can be made to the organization via PayPal (paypal.me/nsaiofficial) to help support NSAI’s year-round efforts on behalf of songwriters.
For years, the Tin Pan South Songwriters Festival has served as a way for audiences to discover up-and-coming songwriters and watch legends at work. Since its first year in 1993, Tin Pan South has served as a platform for NSAI to celebrate the songwriting community in Nashville and beyond. Past festivals have seen performances by Lori McKenna, Thomas Rhett, RaeLynn, Josh Osborne, and many more. This year marks the 13th year Regions Bank has served as presenting sponsor for the festival.
