Bend La Pine Board Selects New Director

Young Bend-La Pine School District students gather for a bus training event earlier this summer.

BEND, Ore. — During a meeting Tuesday, the Bend-La Pine Schools Board of Directors selected Stuart Young to represent south Deschutes County.

Young has a long background in education, and previously served as a superintendent in Creswell as well as at schools in Thailand, Japan and Bangladesh.

Young currently serves as the chair for the Board of Directors for Court Appointed Special Advocates of Central Oregon.

The board said that many qualified candidates made for a difficult decision.

Young’s term runs until June 30, 2015.

The position was previously vacated by Mike Jensen.

This event started in La Pine at L & S Gardens. Upon the retirement of Linda she graciously passed the event on to the La Pine Senior Activity Center.  Each year the community, gathers with everything Rhubarb.
