Prineville, Ore. – On Saturday, at approximately 07:30 a.m., deputies from the Crook County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the area of Highway 380/ Paulina Highway near MP 39 regarding a report of a single vehicle motor vehicle crash that was blocking one lane of traffic.

When deputies arrived they located a 2000 Ford F350 on its wheels partially blocking the eastbound lane of traffic. The driver of the vehicle who was identified as being Amber Blasdell age 26 of Prineville, was already outside of the vehicle lying on the ground. People who had stopped, had supplied Blasdell with coats and blankets to keep her warm.

As a result of the investigation it was determined that Blasdell had been eastbound on Highway 380 when she lost control due to the icy road conditions. At that time the vehicle began to spin out of control, leaving the south side of the highway. The vehicle then rolled one time before coming to a rest, partially blocking the eastbound lane.

Blasdell had three dogs with her at the time of the crash. All three dogs were ejected from the vehicle as a result of the crash. One of the dogs was lying with Blasdell and was later taken to Prineville Veterinary Clinic by deputies for evaluation. The other two dogs were last seen by witnesses running down the highway westbound towards Post, Oregon.

Blasdell was transported by ambulance to St. Charles Hospital in Prineville with unknown injuries. Blasdell was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by several citizens who had stopped and helped Blasdell and with traffic control. The Sheriff’s Office was also assisted at the scene by OSP, ODOT and Crook County Fire and Rescue.

The Sheriff’s Office would like to ask people who live in the area or who are driving through the area to please be on the lookout for the remaining two dogs. The first is a Chocolate Lab named “Griz“ and the second is a red and white Heeler named “Sam“. If located please call the Sheriff’s Office at 541-447-6398.
