Bend, Ore. – The Mt. Bachelor Rotary Club of Bend awarded $28,912.51 from its 5th annual St. Patrick’s Day Dash event to KIDS Center.

“Rotarians helped start KIDS Center 20 years ago and continue to play a vital role in KIDS Center’s ability to help children and families in our community who are dealing with abuse,” said Shelly Smith, M.S., Executive Director of KIDS Center.  “We are so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of Mt. Bachelor Rotary’s St. Patrick’s Day Dash this year and for the generosity displayed by Rotarians, sponsors and participants alike.  Funds raised by this event will help KIDS Center expand our services to support parents as they guide their child through the healing process to overcome abuse. “

KIDS Center, Central Oregon’s only child abuse intervention center, provides medical evaluations, forensic interviews, family support and therapy in a child-friendly environment helping children and their families overcome the devastating impact of child abuse.  Built by the community for the community, for 20 years KIDS Center has been hearing, helping and healing children and families who have experienced child abuse.

“The 5th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Dash was our best yet and our committee would like to thank all of the participants, our generous sponsors, wonderful volunteers and the entire community for supporting this event,” said Anna Robbins, chair of the Mt. Bachelor Rotary St. Patrick’s Day Dash race committee.   To date, the Mt. Bachelor Rotary Club St. Patrick’s Day Dash has awarded $83,860 to local non-profit organizations, and contributed another $14,905 to the club’s World Community Service fund.
