Four Teenage Boys Arrested In La Pine Arson Case

La Pine, Ore. – The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office announced today that four teens have been arrested and charged with arson and other crimes in connection with yesterday’s fire at La Pine Middle School.

Police believe this was an isolated incident and not part of a larger public safety plot.

The fire damaged the roof of the gymnasion at the middle school. An alert school district worker spotted the flames around 5:10 yesterday morning and called 911.

Police have only identified the oldest teen, 18 year old Joshua J. Frontel. The other three are also male, two are 16 and one is 17.

La Pine Fire Chief Mike Supkis had said Wednesday in a news release that the fire was “malicious and an arson event.”
