(NEW YORK) — Meet Billie Lourd. Carrie Fisher’s daughter will be featured in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and you might recognize her iconic hairstyle — the same one her mother wore in the first Star Wars movie.
Lourd, 23, spoke to People magazine about the coveted role, and even though she is not Leia’s daughter in the film, this is still a dream come true for the young actress.
“On special occasions I would make [Carrie] get in a lightsaber fight with me,” she said.
People has pictures of Lourd in action on set, working alongside one of the droids PZ-4C0 as part of the Resistance. Her character’s name has yet to be revealed, but Fisher’s daughter in real life says Leia, her mother’s iconic character, will definitely be an inspiration for her persona onscreen.
“When I saw the [original] movie for the first time, I noticed my mom was not only equally as confident and strong as the men, she was one of the most confident characters in the entire film,” Lourd said. “It made me realize women are just as powerful as men and that we can truly do anything they can – if not more!”
The Force Awakens will be released December 18 by Disney, the parent company of ABC News.
You can also see Lourd in the new series Scream Queens, taking on the role of Chanel #3.
