iStock/Thinkstock(LIMA, Peru) — Hundreds of fireworks flashed above Lima, Peru, on New Year’s Eve to ring in 2016.

The bursts of light that washed over Lima’s streets that night were captured by travel photographer, Jeff Cremer.

Cremer flew his drone 650 feet above the city to capture the remarkable fireworks.

In his post on YouTube, Cremer likened the scene to “the start of the air campaign in Iraq.”

“I wanted to fly lower but I could just picture someone getting lucky with a direct bottle rocket hit to the drone so I stayed up high,” Cremer wrote.

Cremer, who is based in Peru, is a wildlife photographer in the Amazon. His work has been featured in National Geographic, Wired magazine, and the Discovery Channel, among many others. He’s originally from Colorado.

Cremer holds the record for the largest photo ever taken in Peru: a massive panorama of Machu Picchu.
