Bend, Ore. – Local drug agents are looking for a man who allegedly eluded police earlier this week.
According to a news release from the Central Oregon Drug Enforcement team (CODE): Monday night, detectives assigned to the Central Oregon Drug Enforcement (CODE) team attempted to contact and arrest Ryan Fischer-Salt, 35, as he was leaving a residence in the area of Hunnel Rd. near Tumalo Rd.
Fischer-Salt was the passenger in a 1993 Cadillac Deville, which was being driven by Benjamin Richardson, 26, of Redmond.
Fischer-Salt is wanted on an outstanding fugitive arrest warrant. As Detectives were attempting contact with the vehicle, Richardson drove off at a high rate of speed in an attempt to evade law enforcement. Given the reckless manner in which Richardson was operating the vehicle law enforcement did not engage in a vehicle pursuit with him.
Richardson traveled approximately one mile at which time he pulled to the side of the roadway and remained in the vehicle while Fischer-Salt exited the vehicle and fled on
foot. As Richardson was being taken into custody Detectives learned Fischer-Salt’s three year old child was sitting in the back seat and not secured in a child safety seat or seat belt. With assistance from the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office and Bend Police Department, an extensive area search was conducted, however Fischer-Salt was not located and is still outstanding.
Department of Human Resources (Child Welfare) responded to the scene and took custody of the 3 year old child.
Richardson was lodged at the Deschutes County Adult Jail on the below listed charges.
As of this writing, Fischer-Salt is still outstanding and his current whereabouts are unknown. This is an active and on-going investigation by the CODE team. Anyone having information on this case or Fischer-Salt is asked to contact 911 dispatch at 693-6911.
