Bend Ore. – The Deschutes National Forest will conduct a prescribed burn today west of Bend on lands owned and being developed by The Tree Farm, LLC.
The burn will be “highly visible” in Bend, according to officials.
This effort is to reduce potential wildfire fuels and improve forest health on both public and private lands west of Bend.
Forest Service personnel will conduct the burn, located on the western edge of Bend between Skyliner’s Road and Shevlin Park.
In total, 82 acres are planned for burning, with ignitions set to begin at 9:30 a.m. and finish by 2 p.m.
The Forest service adds that homes and businesses near the burn may want to keep their windows and doors closed during the burn, and also at night, when cool air may bring smoke back down into nearby areas.
