Initiative requiring Oregon gun owners to secure firearms won’t be on ballot

An initiative that would have required Oregon gun owners to secure their firearms will not be on the November ballot.

Supporters say they don’t have enough time to gather the more than 88-thousand signatures needed to get the measure in front of voters.

The initiative would have also forced gun owners to supervise kids using firearms and report lost or stolen weapons to the police.
