Automobile Sales Show Year-Over-Year Growth for Fifth Straight Month

iStockphoto/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) — According to data from J.D. Power and LMC Automotive, automobile sales fell between May and June, but marked the fifth consecutive month of year-over-year growth.

The data shows nearly 1.4 million vehicles sold, including 1,104,600 new vehicles. Those figures represent an increase of about five percent over June 2013, based on the number of selling days in the month.

J.D. Power also notes that new-vehicle production has increased since 2013. “The U.S. auto market is arguably in the best position and health it has been in since well before the great recession,” Jeff Schuster, the senior vice president of forecasting for LMC Automotive, said.
