iStock/Thinkstock(BAGHDAD) — After poring over satellite images and grisly photos, the Human Rights Watch confirms at least 160 captives were executed by members of ISIS.
The group says the killings took place earlier this month in two locations in Saddam Hussein’s hometown of Tikrit.
Human Rights Watch said the photos show strong evidence of war crimes carried out by the al Qaeda-inspired Jihadist group, which has claimed large areas of Northern and Western Iraq.
The executions of between 160 and 190 men apparently occurred between June 11 and June 14.
The report, however, notes difficulty accessing the area has prevented a full investigation, and the group concedes the actual number of victims could grow higher.
