iStock/Thinkstock(WASHINGTON) — A U.S. official confirms that armed drones are now flying over Baghdad to protect the U.S. military assessment teams operating there.
The official says the U.S. is flying between 30 to 35 manned and unmanned surveillance flights over Iraq daily, the majority of which will remain unarmed.
As the surveillance flights continue to move around outside of Baghdad, the armed drones will be nearby to provide protection and help to broaden the area that can be surveilled.
