Reddick was injured in the fourth inning of Oakland’s 7-6 victory over Miami Saturday. He left the game and had an MRI on Sunday.

“Until we get the MRI we’re not sure, but regardless it was the feeling of the training staff that he wouldn’t be available,” Athletics skipper Bob Melvin said Sunday. “He’s still sore and stiff. I think it scared him pretty good last night, but he felt better than he thought he would feel this morning.”

Reddick had spent three weeks on the disabled list due to a hyperextended right knee and had just been activated on Tuesday.

For the season, Reddick has played in 54 games, hitting .229 with four home runs, 24 RBIs and a .296 on-base percentage.

First baseman Nate Freiman was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento to take Reddick’s place.
