(NEW YORK) — The cult comedy Community will return for another season, after all — though you’ll need access to the Internet to watch the new episodes.
Yahoo announced Monday it will revive the former NBC comedy for a sixth season that will premiere sometime this fall. Thirteen episodes will be made available on its Yahoo Screen video website.
The cast, which includes Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Alison Brie and Ken Jeong, will remain intact. Creator and executive producer Dan Harmon will return as well.
Harmon says in a statement, “I look forward to bringing our beloved NBC sitcom to a larger audience by moving it online. I vow to dominate our new competition. Rest easy, Big Bang Theory. Look out, Bang Bus!”
McHale jokes, “‘The reports of our cancellation have been greatly exaggerated.’ — Mark Twain (The other version of this quote has been wrong for years).”
McHale, the lead star of the college-based comedy, added that the cast can “swear now” on the show.
Before the agreement between Yahoo and Community producer Sony Pictures Television was reached, the cast’s contracts reportedly were set to expire Monday night.
Community aired on NBC for five seasons before the network cancelled it in May. It never developed into a ratings hit, though it did have a passionate following.
