United States Falls to Belgium at World Cup, 2-1

iStock/Thinkstock(SALVADOR, Brazil) — The United States run at the World Cup is over after falling to Belgium in overtime on Tuesday, 2-1, in the round of 16. 

Belgium got on the board first when Kevin De Bruyne scored in the 93rd minute. They would add a second goal in the 105th minute when Romelu Lukaku connected. The U.S. would cut the deficit two minutes later on a goal from Julian Green. 

U.S. goalkeeper Tim Howard recorded 16 saves — a World Cup record.

Up next for Belgium is a quaterfinal showdown against Lionel Messi and Argentina.
