iStock/Thinkstock(VATICAN CITY) — The Vatican has officially given its approval to those who work to banish demons, giving the thumbs up to the International Association of Exorcists.
The Catholic Church gave its blessing to a group of 250 priests in 30 countries who claim they are experts in chasing away the devil from individuals who believe they’re possessed.
Under the decision, exorcism will be recognized by the church’s canon law. The announcement comes 30 years after the first association of exorcists was founded in Rome.
While Pope Francis gave approval to exorcists, he spoke out against businesses requiring employees to work on Sundays.
During a visit to Molise in southern Italy, the pontiff said that Sunday free from work is proof of a society that gives precedence to human beings over budgets.
Spending the day with family and friends is an “ethical core” for everyone, regardless of their religion, he added.
