Baker City Mayor Sues City Over Utility Bills

BAKER CITY, OR — The mayor of Baker City, who is fighting City Hall over water and sewer bills, has been stripped of his title.  Richard Langrell will remain on the City Council.  In Baker City, the council chooses a mayor from among its seven members to create meeting agendas, sign official documents and represent the city.

Langrell has sued the Eastern Oregon city, saying it overcharged him by more than $9,000 in water and sewer fees at his motel, the Always Welcome Inn.  Others on the council said community members wondered how the mayor could be suing the city.
