Kerry Meets with German Foreign Minister On Heels of Spy Drama

Credit: US Department of State(VIENNA) — After Germany expelled the American Intelligence Chief from Berlin last week, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry met with German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier on Sunday, while the pair were in Vienna for talks regarding Iran’s nuclear capability.

Kerry said after the two spoke that the two nations were committed to working together. He didn’t make specific mention of the recent spy controversy when speaking to reporters, however.

Last week, the U.S. State Department said that the meeting would give the two leaders a chance to discuss “bilateral issues,” as well as international matters. Among the topics of discussion were the situations in Iran, Afghanistan and Iraq, Kerry said.

Kerry was also sure to wish Germany luck in Sunday’s World Cup final against Argentina.
