Algae Toxins Spur Odell Lake Advisory

OAKRIDGE, OR — High levels of blue-green algae have triggered a health advisory for Odell Lake outside of Oakridge.  The Oregon Health Authority said Monday that swallowing or inhaling water droplets from the lake can make people sick, and children are at increased risk because of their size.  The toxins can’t be removed by boiling, filtering or treating the water with camping-style filters.  OHA said boating is fine as long as speeds do not create excessive water spray.

Odell Lake is located off Highway 58 in northern Klamath County.
