Brief Tuesday Chase Leads To One Arrest

DCSO.STOCK.2REDMOND, OR — One man was arrested after a brief car chase outside of Redmond Tuesday afternoon.

A Deschutes County Sheriff’s deputy spotted a stolen car driving on SW 27th St. near Elm Ave. in Redmond.   Before the deputy could turn around, the stolen car was gone.  A Redmond Police officer spotted the suspect vehicle a short time later.  When the cruiser lights when on, the stolen car took off, reaching speeds of 80 mph.

After a few minutes, the chase was called off, but the abandoned car was found a short distance away.  The DCSO’s K-9 unit was called in and found Robert Hansen, 36, Bend, hiding nearby.  He was arrested, taken to the Deschutes County Jail and charged with Attempt to Elude, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Reckless Driving, Reckless Endangering and Probation Violation.
