Local Officials Training For “Active Shooter” Friday

Bend Police STOCK 2BEND, OR — On Friday, multiple Central Oregon public safety agencies and school personnel will train for an “active shooter” on the Central Oregon Community College campus.  Portions of the campus will be taped off and closed during the effort.  Bend Police Lt. Nick Parker said this training will keep them sharp, and you safe.

“We just always want to prepare for the next emergency, and so preparation will always help us respond much more efficiently.”

Friday’s training will run from 9 a.m. to noon.  College Way will remaining open during the event.

Bend, Redmond, Oregon State Police, Bend and Redmond Fire, the FBI, Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office, COCC and Bend-La Pine and many others will participate in Friday’s training.
