Stephen Lovekin/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) — Paula Abdul may be making a return to TV, this time as a judge on the popular reality competition series So You Think You Can Dance.
Sources tell Deadline.com that Mary Murphy, a mainstay on the show, may not be returning for the Fox show’s 12th season, and the producers are looking for a replacement to join co-creator/executive producer Nigel Lythgoe.
Abdul would be a good fit, since she served as a guest judge during the show’s 2013 season, as well as this year’s season of SYTYCD Australia. Deadline stresses that formal talks with her have not been held.
This would mark Abdul’s return to Fox, where she was a judge on American Idol and The X Factor.
Murphy initially began her run on the show as a guest judge during the first two seasons before she was promoted as a regular.
The 12th season of So You Think You Can Dance is set to air next summer.
