(DENVER) — Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning has been playing with a torn right quadriceps for the past month, according to ESPN.
The 14-time Pro Bowler suffered the initial thigh injury during the first half of the Broncos’ 22-10 win over the San Diego Chargers on Dec. 14.
Manning had one of his worst postseason-career performances in Sunday’s 24-13 loss to the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC Divisional round. Of his 24 career playoff games, he threw for the third-most incompletions (20) and the fourth-fewest passing yards (211), scored the fourth-fewest points (13), and the team totaled the fifth-fewest yards (288).
The Broncos have had Manning listed on the injury report with an injured thigh, but the NFL does not require teams to list the severity of the ailment.
