Aaron Rodgers: 'I Got to Play Really Well' to Beat Seattle

Scott Halleran/Getty Images(GREEN BAY, Wis.) — The Green Bay Packers will square off with the Seattle Seahawks for the third time in the playoffs on Sunday in the NFC Championship game.

This is the first time that they’ll play each other with a trip to the Super Bowl on the line.

Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is still battling a strained left calf, but he said on Friday that he plans on being on the field at Century Link.

“I got to play really well,” Rodgers said in order to knock off the defending Super Bowl champions.  “You got to take care of the football, play great defense, you got to complete passes, move the chains, score touchdowns in the red zone, but that’s no different than any road game against a good football team.”

“We’ve played a lot of them this year, we’ve had our ups and downs,” Rodgers continued.  “We’ve won some close games, we lost some, but we’ve competed all the way.”

The Packers are 3-2 in NFC Championship games and have won the last two they played on the road.

“You’d like to win a couple more,” Rodgers said of only having one Super Bowl ring.  “That’s when you really kind of cement your legacy and do something really special; It’d be great to add a couple more trophies.”

Green Bay is playing in their third NFC Championship game in the past eight seasons.
