(ATLANTA) — Mike Budenholzer of the Atlanta Hawks was named the NBA’s Coach of the Year on Tuesday. Under his leadership, the Hawks finished the 2014-15 season with the second-best record in the league at 60-22, earning them the overall number-one seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs.
Budenholzer is in his second season with the Hawks. He previously served as an assistant under San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich.
The Hawks finished with their best regular-season record in franchise history and had four players in this year’s All-Star Game. Atlanta also had the best unbeaten month in NBA history (17-0 in January) and tied for the sixth-longest win streak in NBA history (19 games).
Budenholzer received 513 points, edging out Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr, who had 471 points.
