According to police, Aaron Daniel Driver was detained under a court order saying there were “reasonable grounds to believe that [he] may commit a terrorist offense.”

Driver, also known under the alias Harun Abdurahman, told The Toronto Star in February he thought the Parliament Hill shooter was justified and expressed support for ISIS. In the article, he says he converted to Islam at 17 after being brought up Christian in an Ontario military family.

The Toronto Star said he had been on the Canadian Security Intelligence Service’s radar as a “potential threat to national security” for some time.
