Bend, Ore. – As temperatures are expected to rise to over 100 degrees this weekend, The Shepherd’s House, an organization that serves Central Oregon’s homeless, is in need of bottled water.
Summer in the high desert can be just as harsh as winter when living outdoors. Because of this, The Shepherd’s House is providing more water, serving more meals, and providing day shelter to help the homeless beat the heat.
There are are over 2,000 homeless individuals in Central Oregon. When temperatures rise in the desert, staying hydrated is extremely important.
“Since completing our new kitchen earlier this year, the number of meals we serve each month has increased. As the temperatures rise, we anticipate more people coming to the mission for a meal, water, and a place out of the heat,” says Curt Floski, Executive Director of The Shepherd’s House.
