Bend, Ore. – Three Siberian Huskies are at the local human society and awaiting a dog trial that will decide their fate.

The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office says on Thursday around 5:45 a.m. deputies were dispatched to the 60000 Block of Arnold Market Road for a report of three dogs that had killed two Alpacas and injured several others. As deputies arrived in the area, the three dogs were still in the pasture, but ran away as deputies entered the pasture.

An investigation at the scene determined two Suri alpacas were initially killed during the attack by the three dogs. Two additional Suri alpacas had to be euthanized by a local veterinarian due to their injuries. A fifth Suri alpaca is being monitored for minor injuries, but its condition is reported to be improving.

The three Siberian Huskies were tracked to a residence approximately two miles away. The dog owner, Norman Jensen, was contacted and the three dogs were subsequently taken into custody and lodged at the Humane Society of Central Oregon, pending the results of hearing conducted by the Dog Control Board of Supervisors.
