csfotoimages/iStock Editorial/Thinkstock(DETROIT) — General Motors announced two separate recalls on Wednesday affecting just over 250,000 vehicles.
The company said just close to 160,000 Hummer SUV’s and trucks in the United States have systems that may overheat, increasing the risk of fire. GM said it is aware of three reported injuries related to burns, but no fatalities.
The recall also includes vehicles sold in Canada, Mexico, and exports, making the total number of affected Hummers just under 200,000.
In a separate recall, the company said Wednesday they are recalling just over 50,000 Chevy Sparks and Chevy Sonics because of a radio glitch.
“In certain vehicles with base radios and OnStar, the radio software may cause the radio to lock up in the OnStar Turn-by-Turn Directions mode. If this occurs, the radio display will go blank and all audio functions will cease, including vehicle chimes related to warnings for a key left in ignition and driver safety belt not in use,” GM said in a statement to ABC News. “In addition to the vehicle chime malfunction, the radio may not turn off. This could drain the battery and possibly prevent the vehicle from starting.”
