California Woman Falls 40 Feet At Smith Rock

Terrebonne, Ore. The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office says a California woman fell about 40 feet at Smith Rock State Park yesterday. As of last night she was in “serious” condition at St. Charles.

She had gone off of the trail yesterday and was climbing a nearly vertical section of rock when she lost her hold.

That prompted a rescue that took several hours, that started in the early afternoon and ended in the evening.
