Bend, Ore. – It was a 6 hour rescue that started yesterday afternoon…A Bend couple became lost on a hike near Horse Lake and called for help with directions. But spotty cellphone coverage meant the Deschutes County Search and Rescue team needed to respond.

Deschutes County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue got a call shortly before 5 p.m. from 69 year old Jeanne Larson saying she and her husband, Kurt, were lost and while doing fine needed directions to return to their starting point at the Elk Lake Trailhead. But the cellphone wouldn’t cooperate…so the rescue team was put into action.
