Bend, Ore. -The City of Bend is hosting three open houses for individuals seeking assistance in completing short term rental operating license applications.

City staff will be available at these open houses to assist with any questions about permitting or licensing a short term rental.

All open houses will be held in the Council Chambers at Bend City Hall, 710 NW Wall St. The dates and times of these open houses are:

· Monday, August 17, 2015, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

· Monday, August 24, 2015, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

· Wednesday, September 9, 2015, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

The Bend City Council adopted a new program to manage short term rentals in April, 2015. The program went into effect July 3, 2015.

Property owners who wish to rent out their homes need a permit from the City.

Owners of short term rental properties must also now submit operating license applications for each short term rental location in order to comply with the new City ordinance. The deadline to apply for a license is September 1, 2015.

Short term rentals are defined by the City as rentals for 29 or fewer consecutive days per year, per tenant.
