Your Body: Preventing Diabetes

Type II diabetes affects 9 percent of the U.S. population and what’s worse is that 37 percent of adults are at risk for developing it.

The condition is very serious and can change your life forever, but you can prevent it most of the time.

In the field of OB/GYN, there are several conditions that can increase your risk. Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and having gestational diabetes in pregnancy both up your risk of developing type II diabetes in the future.

Researchers found that diet and exercise are very effective in decreasing the chances of developing the condition.

We all need to be worried about this. Eating well and exercise are a big part of it. Make these changes now, so that you won’t have to make detrimental changes later.
