Streeter Lecka/Getty Images(SPARTAN BURG, S.C.) — The Carolina Panthers could be down another receiver — for now, anyway.
In a joint practice Wednesday with the Miami Dolphins, Panthers receiver Kelvin Benjamin appeared to have injured his left knee when trying to make a cut on a no-contact play against Miami defensive back Don Jones, ESPN reports.
Benjamin apparently sprained his knee and will have an MRI, Panthers coach Ron Rivera said, according to ESPN.
Rivera said Benjamin had been in “tremendous shape” when he reported to training camp.
Benjamin was the Panthers’ leading receiver last season, with 73 receptions for 1,008 yards and nine touchdowns.
Carolina is already down one receiver in the preseason, ESPN reports. A torn ACL took Stephen Hill out in the first week of training camp.
