(NEW YORK) — The upcoming season of Dancing with the Stars will include a teenage Vine star. Hayes Grier was announced Wednesday as the latest celebrity to join the reality TV competition’s roster for the show’s 21st season.
The show tweeted the news Wednesday morning, directing fans to follow the social media-savvy 15-year-old on Vine and Twitter.
Hayes, from North Carolina, shot to fame with his videos and now has four million followers on Vine and Instagram.
The teenager naturally made his own DWTS announcement by releasing a video early this morning. In the video, where he appears fresh out of bed in a white T-shirt, Hayes says: “Right now it’s four in the morning in L.A. and I was going to announce my big announcement in seven days, but I just got word that I can announce it now. So why not? It’s gonna be really cool and an amazing journey to be on season 21 of Dancing with the Stars.”
“I’m super excited and I really want you guys to be a big part of it and support and vote for us,” he tells his fans in the video.
Hayes later tweeted, “I’m going to go back to bed right now since I have my first rehearsal in a few hours. Keep the hashtags going and trending! Be back soon.”
Hayes is the fourth announced celebrity who will compete on this season of Dancing. Bindi Irwin, the 17-year-old daughter of the late “Crocodile Hunter” Steve Irwin, will also join the celebrity cast, as well as American Pharaoh jockey Victor Espinoza and Backstreet Boy Nick Carter. Controversial chefPaula Deen and Grammy Award-winning singer Chaka Khan are also rumored to be competing for the Mirrorball trophy this season.
More of the new celebrity cast will be revealed on ABC’s Good Morning America Sept. 2. The new season of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars premieres at 8 p.m. ET on Sept. 14.
