Redmond Police Release Results Park Patrols

Redmond, Ore. -The Redmond Police Department Street Crimes Unit conducted an operation in Sam Johnson Park on Friday, October 9th, and yesterday, October 12th.

The operation focused on quality of life crimes, violations and juvenile problems in our parks.

As a result of the two day operation the team arrested one adult and four juveniles.

The crimes alleged to have been committed by the persons arrested include:

Delivery of Marijuana within 1000’ of a School
Unlawful Possession of Marijuana by person under 21 years of age – More than 1 Ounce Unlawful Possession of Marijuana by person under 21 years of age – More than 8 Ounces Introducing Contraband
Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree x 4
Runaway Juvenile was located.

The team also issued the citations for the following violations:

Minor in Possession of Tobacco x 5
Marijuana Use in Public
Unlawful Possession of Marijuana by person under 21 years of age – Less than 1 Ounce

A total of 11 ounces of marijuana was seized as a result of the multi-day operation. That is over one half pound of marijuana taken away from juveniles and those under 21 years of age.

Background: The Redmond Street Crimes Unit was started several years ago thanks to a grant award from the US Department of Justice. The Street Crimes Unit is no longer funded by a grant. The Street Crimes Unit is an extra-duty assignment for Officers and Detectives of the Redmond Police Department and they focus on quality of life crimes to include: Drug users, drug endangered children, low level drug sellers and the property and person crimes associated with drug use and sales.
