Kendrick Lamar, Big Sean Big Winners at 2015 BET Hip Hop Awards

BET(ATLANTA) — Kendrick Lamar and Big Sean each took home three trophies at the 2015 BET Hip Hop Awards, which took place last weekend in Atlanta and aired Tuesday night, with Snoop Dogg as host.

Kendrick won three awards: Best Hip Hop Video, Lyricist of the Year, and Impact Track, all of them for his single “Alright.”  Sean won Best Collabo, Duo or Group for “Blessings,” as well as Best Club Banger, for “IDFWU,” and the People’s Champ Award.

The biggest highlight of the night occurred when Scarface accepted the coveted I Am Hip Hop Award. “I am not an icon,” the Houston rapper said in his acceptance speech. “I’m lyin. I’ve been doing this for 27 years. Twenty-seven years ago, you couldn’t have told me that I would be standing up on stage in front of y’all tonight saying something that I’m making up off the top of my head. Twenty-seven years of this, I know too many of y’all. There’s too many of y’all to name. From start to finish, appreciate y’all. Seriously.”  Scarface’s night quickly turned sour when he was arrested and jailed for failure to pay child support.

Performance highlights included Puff Daddy delivering new music with Lil Kim, King Los and Styles P, while Kid Ink made a surprise guest appearance during Dej Loaf’s set with DJ Mustard. Following TIP taking the stage with Young Dro, Travi$ Scott closed out the show with a performance of “90210” and “Antidote”
