The 25-year-old American Idol season-11 winner and his longtime partner, Hannah Blackwell, tied the knot on Saturday at the Resora Plantation in Albany, Georgia, in front of 250 of their closest friends and family, his rep tells People magazine.
The celebration was expected to continue on Sunday with a Southern-style reception, before the couple departs for their honeymoon, according to the entertainment magazine.
Phillips, who met Blackwell at a charity event nearly seven years ago, tells People, “I’m so excited. What I love most about her is she’s my best friend and I can tell her anything. I just love her.”
“I feel like when I met Phillip, he was the answer to so many questions that I had,” adds Blackwell. “He just makes everything make sense for me.”
Phillips announced the couple’s engagement on Facebook this past December. “My best Christmas surprise is happening. We’re engaged yall!” he captioned a photo of him and his bride-to-be smiling as she displayed a diamond ring.
