Wall Street Finishes Week on Down Note Amid Slow Wage Growth

JaysonPhotography/iStock/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) — Another day of losses on Wall Street as the government reported slow wage growth and consumer spending.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 92.26 to a close of 17663.54.

The Nasdaq dipped 20.52 to 5053.75, while the S&P 500 ended the session at 2079.36, down 10.05 from its open.

The latest data from the government showed weak growth in consumer spending and wage growth. That as retailers including Target and Wal-Mart begin their pre-Black Friday sales push as early as this weekend.

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Friday approved new rules that would allow startup companies to more easily use online crowdfunding sites to raise money from potential investors.
