The U.S. Army released a statement Friday acknowledging the crash, which took place near the town of Freihung. The Army said at least one person was killed and multiple civilians were hurt. No U.S. service members were on the scene at the time of the collision.

The Army notes that none of the vehicles involved in the crash were carrying hazardous materials or ammunition.

Both the transport and the train reportedly suffered significant damage.

The incident will be investigated, with the U.S. Army vowing assistance to the German authorities.
