Fish House Fire Warning: Keep Cooking Area Clean

Bend, Ore. – Bend Firefighters quickly put out a vent fire at Roszak’s Fish House on NE 3rd Street Monday. No injuries were reported. Upon arrival, firefighters found smoke in the kitchen and a fire in the vent system. An employee had used a dry chemical extinguisher to put out a small fire on the stove. Heat from that fire ignited grease in the vent system. Fire crews used a water extinguisher to handle the vent fire. They checked the entire building for fire extension and didn’t find anything.

The Bend Fire Department reminds us that keeping a cooking area clean and free of grease is the best way to prevent damaging stove fires.
