Two Arrested in Redmond on Gun Charges

Redmond, Ore – Redmond Police arrested two people Sunday after a neighborhood dispute that led Police to search a house for guns.

Here’s the latest from Redmond Police: Shortly after 6pm Sunday, Officers from the Redmond Police Department, Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office, and Oregon State Police responded to the 2800 block of SW Pumice Ave for a neighborhood dispute which started due to vehicles speeding up and down the street.

During the dispute a physical altercation took place and it was alleged a suspect pointed a handgun at the victim, before retreating into 2812 SW Pumice Ave.

Officers surrounded the residence and were able to detain six people from the residence, including Logan Jansen, 23, from Klamath Falls.  During the initial investigation Logan Jansen was arrested and taken to the Deschutes County Jail where he was lodged for Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Menacing.  Officers applied for and were granted search warrants for the residence.  During the execution of the search warrants, Officers located the suspected handgun used by Jansen.

Additionally, during the search, Officers located a short barreled shotgun and a rifle.  Information gathered during the investigation led Officers to believe Mathew Morkert, 23,  from Redmond and a convicted felon, had been in possession of the rifle and shotgun.

Morkert was later located at 1515 NW Fir Ave #18, Redmond, and taken to the Deschutes County Jail for Probation Violation, Felon in Possession of a Firearm x 2, and Unlawful Possession of a Short-barreled Firearm.
