Via Christi St. Francis hospital in Wichita said it was expecting 3 patients, KAKE reported.

But it was unclear how many people were injured in total in the shooting at Excel Industries, a manufacturer of heavy duty lawn care equipment, in Hesston. Workers were instructed to meet in another building for a head count.

According to KAKE, the shooter was “down,” but the gunman’s condition was unclear.

Nearby Hesston college was put on lockdown during the shooting, the school said on its website. There were about 375 students and faculty on campus at the time of the lockdown, KAKE reported.

Wichita police offered condolences to the victims on Twitter.
