Cougar Sighting Near Smith Rock

Terrebonne, Ore – A Terrebonne man was a bit startled when he spotted a cougar running away from a dead deer on a trail near Smith Rock State Park Thursday.

“I saw the fresh killing of the deer as I walked through the woods on a trail,” the man reported to KBNW News. “Then I looked and saw the cougar run off, so I must have scared it off.”

He says the sighting occurred Thursday afternoon near the west side trail entrance to Smith Rock State Park.
