(LOS ANGELES) — Former Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling and his wife, Shelly, have called off their divorce.
Sterling filed for divorce in August just weeks before their 60th anniversary.
“Notwithstanding all the difficult events of the last two years,” Sterling’s attorney, Bobby Samini, wrote in an email to the Los Angeles Times on Friday. “The Sterlings have resolved their differences.”
A 2014 recording of Sterling telling mistress V. Stiviano to not associate herself with black people put the married couple in the spotlight. The situation led to a lifetime-ban from the NBA and a $2.5 million fine for the billionaire.
His wife removed him as a member of the family trust that owned the Clippers after doctors confirmed he was suffering from Alzheimer’s disease for at least three years. A judge agreed that she acted properly in doing so and for trying to sell the team.
Steve Ballmer purchased the team from Shelly for $2 billion in August 2014.
