Lucasfilm/Disney(NEW YORK) — MTV celebrated the 25th anniversary of the MTV Movie Awards on Saturday night.

Hosted by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Kevin Hart at Warner Brothers Studios in Burbank, California, and airing Sunday night, the awards show named Star Wars: The Force Awakens Movie of the Year.

Melissa McCarthy made history, becoming the first woman to receive the Comedic Genius Award. McCarthy ended her acceptance speech by giving a shout-out to Bruce Springsteen, who canceled a scheduled concert with The E Street Band in Greensboro, North Carolina, in protest over the state’s recently passed legislation that he considers discriminatory against the LGBT community. “Who knew Bruce Springsteen could get even cooler?” she said.

The highest honor at the MTV Movie Awards — The Generation Award — was given to Will Smith for his career.

Aside from handing out movie popcorn trophies, artists such as Ariana Grande and Halsey performed.

Presenters also took to the stage, including Charlize Theron, Kendrick Lamar, Chris Hemsworth, Jessica Chastain, Seth Rogen, Zac Efron, Olivia Munn and Gigi Hadid.

The broadcast offered a glimpse at the new Harry Potter-themed movie, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, plus a new trailer for DC’s Suicide Squad.
