Princess Creek Campground Closed Indefinitely

Deschutes County, Ore. – The Deschutes National Forest has closed Princess Creek campground and boat launch on Odell Lake indefinitely due to a dangerous hazard tree situation.

The campground, which has a variety of tree species, had a wind event in the spring that caused some of the spruce, mountain hemlock, white fir and Douglas fir to blow down or become “root sprung”, exposing the roots and making the tree unstable.

Additionally, trees in the campground are also showing signs of root rot, making them more susceptible to wind events and unpredictable for camper safety.
